Something Borrowed

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue! It’s an age old saying meant to bring luck that is still incorporated into modern wedding traditions. Your something borrowed can be anything from a piece of jewelry to a veil or yes, even a gown! This 1960’s custom made gown is a family heirloom that has been passed down through generations. One of the most popular bridal shops in the 60’s was Iurato’s,originally located in Hackensack New Jersey. The shop was owned by sisters, Pauline & Florence lurato. They created the chantilly lace gown that came with a 5 their hoop and an impressive row of buttons down the back for Joyce Rose DiMartino in 1963 and it took 6 moths to make. It was worn again by the Joyce’s sister, Wendy DiMartino in 1979.Wendy’s daughter Nikki pictured here at the gorgeous Park Chateau, wanted a turn wearing the gown that had so much meaning for her family.Nikki’s subtle understated style breathes new life into this locally made wedding gown. What’s your something borrowed?
